Science & Technology Discovery Series, Hosted by the Technology Alliance

Dr. Colleen Delaney from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center will discuss using umbilical cord blood to save lives. Discovery Series presentations are held monthly, September through May, Friday mornings from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at the Rainier Club in downtown Seattle. The intimate setting, with approximately 70 attendees per breakfast, includes a breakfast buffet, time for networking with Puget Sound region business and community leaders, a Q&A session following the speaker’s presentation, and an opportunity to meet the speaker. The early-bird registration rate of $275 has been extended to September 5th. After this date, the regular individual membership rate of $295 for the 9-breakfast speaker series will apply. Luke is an award-winning journalist specializing in life sciences. He has served as national biotechnology editor for Xconomy and national biotechnology reporter for Bloomberg News. Luke got started covering life sciences at The Seattle Times, where he was the lead reporter on an investigation of doctors who leaked confidential information about clinical trials to investors. The story won the Scripps Howard National Journalism Award and several other national prizes. Luke holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and during the 2005-2006 academic year, he was a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at MIT.
