—Alnylam Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: [[ticker:ALNY]]) of Cambridge, MA, inked a deal to get access to single-stranded RNA interference (ssRNAi) technology developed by Carlsbad, CA-based Isis Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: [[ticker:ISIS]]). Alnylam will pay up to $31 million in upfront fees and milestone payments, as well as royalties on any drugs that may be developed using the technology.

—Waltham, MA-based North Bridge Venture Partners was the main investor in a deal that added $5 million to the Series B round of Active Endpoints, a Waltham-based provider of systems that help enterprises and developers automate business processes.
