Vermedx, a Burlington, VT-based provider of information technology tools initially for the diabetes care market, has raised $500,000 in a Series A financing, the company reported this week. FreshTracks Capital, a venture firm based in Shelburne, VT, led the financing, which is intended to provide Vermedx with funds to enhance marketing efforts and continue to develop products. The company, formed in 2006 with technology from the University of Vermont, has developed software used to collect diabetic patients’ blood test results from laboratories, generate reports based on the lab data, and support outreach to patients whose lab data indicates that they need immediate medical treatment.
