With expertise in marine engineering and shipbuilding, academic resources, testing facilities, access to open oceans, and a vibrant marine technology cluster, San Diego has a unique opportunity to lead the nation in developing very large floating platforms, (VLFPs). The Maritime Alliance has organized this half-day meeting to focus on the technologies that exist and would be required to build a VLFP, what it would take to actually build a VLFP in this region, and VLFP engineering challenges.
