21. Photo Pad: Flickr — This $1.99 photo browser app from Midnight Mobility isn’t particularly well known, but it’s my current favorite for interfacing with Flickr, which is where I keep all of my digital photos. I’ve got it set to synchronize with all of my Flickr photosets, which means I’m carrying about 11,000 photos around on my iPad. The Photo Pad interface is simple and direct; you can browse by set or by tag, and there are few other bells or whistles, which is just fine with me.

I have a B.A. in the history of science from Harvard College and a PhD in the history and social study of science and technology from MIT.
