Highland Capital Partners, a venture firm with offices in Lexington, MA and Silicon Valley, joined BDC Venture Capital in a $12 million funding round for Montreal, Canada-based Beyond the Rack, TechCrunch reported on Friday. Beyond the Rack is an Internet startup that offers members-only sales on designer items, usually lasting only a few days. Highland has backed other companies in the fashion and e-commerce spaces, such as StyleFeeder, Gemvara, and Rent the Runway, according to the firm’s website. I didn’t hear back from Highland at the time of publishing this brief, but I’ll be sure to update this space if the firm provides any additional details on the Beyond the Rack financing.
