Battery Buys Data Innovations

Investment firm Battery Ventures, with offices in Waltham, MA and Menlo Park, CA, announced today that it has bought Data Innovations, a maker of software for managing clinical laboratory data. No financial terms of the transaction were revealed, but the purchase is Battery’s third acquisition of a healthcare software company in the last three years, after Brightree and Healthvision, which was acquired by Lawson Software earlier this year. South Burlington, VT-based Data Innovations has also added a new CEO, Mike Epplen, who previously worked in the healthcare IT space at Lawson and will join the Data Innovations board of directors alongside Battery Ventures Dave Tabors and Chelsea Stoner.
