While San Diego has become a center of excellence for drug development, the prolonged development costs are pushing some entrepreneurs to explore the virtual business model as an alternative strategy for building a biotech startup. San Diego also is benefitting from increasing numbers of biotech and service companies that are now collaborating in San Diego.
