Black Duck Acquires SpikeSource

Waltham, MA-based Black Duck Software, a provider of platforms for helping software makers track the open-source and third party code behind their products, announced Tuesday that it had acquired the assets of SpikeSource, a maker of software and services for identifying application components and assessing compliance. The firm did not disclose how much it paid for SpikeSource, but said that the software will integrate with its product suite, using binary scanning to help developers understand what has gone into their applications. Black Duck also acquired open source directory Ohloh.net in October.
