About.com Announces Expansion Plans

About.com is expanding its premium content, launching a Spanish-language channel, and doubling its video content, according to a press release. The site, which is part of the New York Times Company (NYSE:[[ticker:NYT]]), also plans to grow its collection of so-called Guide sites, which are run by independent experts and cover popular topics like food, health, parenting, and cars. “About.com’s more than 14 years of experience helping users accomplish their goals has taught us that when a user comes to you from search with a need, the most satisfying, trustworthy way to answer is with information from highly accomplished experts, capable of addressing the user’s need from all angles,” said Cella Irvine, CEO of About Group in the statement.
