OK, so they’re not quite the Emmys. And this being New York, they’re not even the Tonys. But for the city’s legions of Web developers and interactive advertisers they might as well be the Oscars. That’s right, it’s time for the 15th Annual Webby Awards. The nominees were announced today in New York.
The Webby Awards, presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, include more than 70 categories, encompassing websites, interactive advertising, online film and video, mobile, and apps. Winners will be announced May 3 and honored during a ceremony June 13 in New York. The ceremony will be streamed live on the Internet, in HD, by MLB Advanced Media (MLBAM), which is owned by Major League Baseball. Under an agreement signed March 14, MLBAM will webcast the awards using technology that allows viewers to interact with the presentation via mobile and tablet apps.
