The Genetics Institute Impact — Tony Evnin, a partner at Venrock Associates, talked about how he was the “junior” member of the VC syndicate that put $6 million into GI in December 1980. He was joined by legendary executives Benno Schmidt and Bill Paley in the original syndicate. Today, Evnin noted he has continued to invest in GI alumni companies, like Aveo Pharmaceuticals, Infinity Pharmaceuticals, and Acceleron Pharma.

The story won the Scripps Howard National Journalism Award and several other national prizes. Luke holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and during the 2005-2006 academic year, he was a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at MIT.
