Fashion Tech Startups Emerging From Harvard B-School Runway in Droves

NEXT COMPANY >>
Lineby — Co-founded by HBS ’10 grads Marissa Gibbons and Jean-Claude Homawoo, alongside John Allison, Lineby is working with key online influencers such as bloggers to develop fashion products from the ground up, rather than just generating buzz for existing brands. The company entered Boston’s MassChallenge startup competition with a different name—Ohgle—and focus: social bookmarking a la Pinterest, says Gibbons. It pivoted to focus on fashion products last summer, taking with it the understanding of online influencers, Gibbons says. Lineby has also looked to former HBS fashion tech startups for support; it’s working out of Birchbox’s office space, and Gibbons cites Gilt’s Wilson as “really generous with her time and expertise.”
