About the speakers:
Gil Penchina is a serial entrepreneur and angel investor. He is currently closing a muli-million dollar financing for a new startup in stealth mode. Gil was the CEO of Wikia, now a top 50 website and was part of the early team at eBay, where he was VP for Business Development and then Global Expansion, as well as a General Manager in Europe. Before eBay, Gil worked at General Electric, Bain & Co. and started two small technology companies. Gil has a Bachelors in Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and an MBA from Kellogg. In addition, Gil has been an active angel investor in 50+ companies over the last 12 years including firms such as Linkedin, Paypal, Evite, ZipRealty, WeHeartIt, Flowdock, Betable, SiteJabber and many other consumer and SMB Internet services.
Ed Roman is a serial entrepreneur with 12 years of experience. Ed’s expertise is in marketing, sales, leadership, and software development. Ed is an advisor to startup companies and mentored at the Capital Factory incubator. As an angel investor Ed has invested in over 8 companies. Prior to being an angel investor, Ed was the founder & CEO of Ghostfire Games – making exercise games for Nintendo Wii, and founder & CEO of The Middleware Company – a java training/consulting company. In his off time he does fundraising work for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Stefano Bernardi oversees the develop evangelism efforts and works on the platform product at Betable. He is mainly focused on technology, web applications, social media, growth entrepreneurship and venture capital. Stefano is originally from Italy, where he worked at dPixel a seed stage venture capital firm that gave entrepreneurs the opportunity to build a web business. Stefano is also the founder of Italian Startup Scene – a Facebook group with more than 4,000 people, and HackItaly – a hackathon-event for the top italian developers. In 2010, Stefano won Startup Weekend Venice with GoWar – a location based game that went on to raise some funding. When Stephen isn’t to busy creating and investing in web products, he like to spend his spare time mentoring startups, mountain biking and spending time with his lovely fiancé.”
