From the event organizers:
“Innovate Berkeley combines delicious meals with amazing people to share ideas about how to make Berkeley a vibrant hub of entrepreneurial activity.
The Featured Guest is Mike Zuckerman of [Freespace], a BurningMan-inspired project in San Francisco. [Freespace] is an experiment that throws civic hackers, artists and community activists together into a free 14,000 square foot building for a month and asks them to “make something happen.” The initiative is attracting attention from such big business thinkers as Deloitte’s Center for the Edge. At base it’s a crazy mishmash of art, projects, murals, farming and biking put in one spot with the hope of making lasting change in a community. Read Fast Company’s coverage of the project OR join us for this evening with Mike and other cool forward thinkers in the East Bay.
The Food will be by Chef Hiroo Nagahara, the mastermind behind the The Chairman Truck. He worked as Charlie Trotter’s executive chef at Bar Charlie in Las Vegas and partnered with a Los Angeles food truck company to bring his food to the masses. Now he wants to “see how far we can push street food using techniques from high-end restaurants and The Chairman is my first concept.” He draws from his years of culinary experience and a physics background to invent cutting-edge culinary techniques to fully engage the senses.”
