Splice may still be in private beta, but the music creation and sharing software for musicians already has quite the pedigree.
On Wednesday, the New York-based startup co-founded by Steve Martocci announced it has raised $2.75 million led by Union Square Ventures.
Other participants in the funding round include Lerer Ventures, True Ventures, First Round Capital, SV Angel, Code Advisors, as well as individual investors David Tisch, Rob Wiesenthal, and Seth Goldstein.
Splice is designed to bring collaboration and version control to the digital audio workstations musicians use, and to help streamline creating, organizing, and sharing music. The company was co-founded by Matt Aimonetti, who has been a senior software architect with LivingSocial and previously worked on video games for Sony PlayStation.
Martocci is no stranger to the collaboration sector. His previous startup GroupMe, which he sold in 2011 to Skype, created an app that let users launch conference calls with people from their contact lists.
In addition to its New York home base, Splice plans to open offices in Los Angeles.
