Ron Gutman, Founder and CEO, HealthTap
Ron is responsible for HealthTap’s innovation, vision and product. Ron is also an avid public speaker and writer, frequently presenting at health and technology conferences (such as TED, SXSW and Health 2.0) and contributing pieces about technology, health and smiling in leading publications (such as Forbes, the Huffington Post, and TEDBooks). Additionally, he serves as the Curator of TEDx Silicon Valley. Prior to founding HealthTap, Ron was the founder and CEO of a leading online consumer health 2.0 company that developed the world’s largest community of independent health writers and became one of the largest health sites on the Internet, serving more than 100 million users to date (acquired in early 2009). Ron is an angel investor and advisor to health and technology companies, Rock Health, Stanford’s Medicine X and Harvard Medical School’s SMArt Initiative (“Substitutable Medical Apps, reusable technologies”).
Ryan Howard, Founder and CEO, Practice Fusion
Ryan founded Practice Fusion in 2005 and has grown it into the largest physician-patient community in the US. Serving over 75 million patients, the platform connects doctors, pharmacies, labs, and imaging centers to solve healthcare’s biggest challenges. Ryan has spoken on health technology and innovation at Microsoft, Stanford, UC Berkeley, HIMSS, SDForum and Commonwealth Club events and has been quoted by the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Wired as an innovative leader in the sector. He has been recognized as one of the Top 40 under 40 by the San Francisco Business Times, Silicon Valley 100 by Business Insider and was named a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum.
David Icke, Founder and CEO, MC10
Dave Icke joined MC10 as CEO in March 2009. Dave built his career growing and scaling businesses that solve customer problems with breakthrough technology. Dave understands semiconductor manufacturing, starting as a process engineer at Cypress Semiconductor, then helping chipmakers worldwide quickly ramp their fabs in different leadership roles over 11 years at KLA-Tencor. He then led and grew several businesses in semiconductor test equipment at Teradyne. In 2005, he took the plunge into the startup world with Advanced Electron Beams, a venture-backed cleantech company with a disruptive platform technology serving multiple markets.
Elli Kaplan, Co-founder and CEO, Neurotrack
Elli’s career spans two decades in the public and private sectors, at the White House, the State and Treasury Departments, and the United Nations Development Program. Her roles have included COO at Flashpoint, VP Business Development at Activate3D, VP Investor Relations and Research at Cousins Properties and Executive Director at Peachtree Corridor Taskforce. She has also held senior positions with AIG Capital Partners, Goldman Sachs and multiple startups.
Mike Keriakos, Co-founder and CEO, Everyday Health
Mike and co-founder Ben Wolin started Everyday Health in a kitchen in Brooklyn in 2002. Now, with more than 20 different digital health properties, the company reaches 38 million consumers a month and one-third of all health care professionals. Mike is responsible for the strategic direction of product portfolio and growing the consumer and professional businesses. He has spearheaded efforts to expand the company’s media footprint, including partnerships with AOL, Google’s YouTube, and he brought the weekly TV series, Everyday Health, to ABC stations in 95% of the country. Prior to founding Everyday Health, Mike worked on the media sales teams at Beliefnet, Inc and iVillage. He began his career at Procter & Gamble.
Vinod Khosla, Founder, Khosla Ventures
Upon graduation of his MBA at Stanford, Vinod was one of the three founders of Daisy Systems. The company went on to achieve significant revenue, profits, and an IPO, but Khosla, driven by the frustration of having to design the computer hardware on which the Daisy software needed to be built, started the standards-based Sun Microsystems in 1982 to build workstations for software developers. In 1986, Vinod switched sides and joined Kleiner Perkins, where he was and continues to be a general partner of KPCB funds through KP X. In 2004, Vinod, formed Khosla Ventures. He has a passion for nascent technologies that can have a beneficial effect and economic impact on society. His greatest passion is being a mentor to entrepreneurs, helping them build technology-based businesses. Khosla is a charter member of TiE and founding board member of the Indian School of Business. His current passion is social entrepreneurship, with a special emphasis on microfinance as a poverty alleviation tool.
Tim Kress-Spatz, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, KitCheck
Tim has been programming since the age of 9 and started his professional career on Wall St. building highly-scalable consumer and enterprise websites and trading systems. He continued his career focusing on the digital needs of the world’s largest consumer brands. His first startup, Ambush.TV, was created to capitalize on the burgeoning online video space. Tim then led the architecture design and system development for Kit Check’s hospital pharmacy kit processing solution. His experience in consumer technology shapes his focus on bringing friendly software to the hospital pharmacy that is easy to install, easy to use and delivers measurable benefits.
Lisa Maki, Co-founder and CEO, PokitDok
Lisa brings over 20 years of experience in the technical industry designing consumer and enterprise software and businesses for Fortune 100 companies and startups. Before founding PokitDok, Lisa co-founded BeliefNetworks, a predictive analytics and semantic intelligence technology startup focused on content and advertising optimization. Lisa has also held several roles at Microsoft, including Director of Program Management for all consumer products.
Sheila Lirio Marcelo, Founder and CEO, Care.com
Sheila founded Care.com in 2006 and today, the company is the largest online care destination in the world, with more than 8.8 million members across 16 countries. Sheila’s passion for technology developed during her time as a management consultant and a teaching fellow at Harvard Business School. Her growing appreciation for the power of technology to help solve real problems for people led her to Upromise, where she was VP of Product Management and Marketing for the service that helped families save for college, and then to executive search engine TheLadders.com, where she was VP and General Manager of TheLadders.com. Following TheLadders, she was an Entrepreneur in Residence at Matrix Partners. Sheila is a finalist judge for Harvard Business School’s annual Business Plan Competition. A frequent speaker on female entrepreneurship, women in technology and female leadership, Sheila founded WomenUp.org to increase women’s roles in the global economy by providing leadership training, mentorship and support to girls and women through every stage of their lives and careers.
Cyrus Massoumi, Founder and CEO, ZocDoc
Cyrus founded ZocDoc in 2007 after rupturing an eardrum and struggling for four painful days to find a doctor. Prior to ZocDoc, Cyrus served as an Engagement Manager at the global management consulting firm McKinsey & Company, where he focused on healthcare and technology. In 1999, Cyrus founded his first business, a web startup specializing in e-commerce management tools. During the prior year, he worked in Austin, Texas, for Trilogy Software, which recruited Cyrus upon his graduation from the Wharton School. Cyrus’ most proud and humbling distinction to date is ZocDoc’s recognition by Crain’s New York Business as the Best Place to Work in New York.
John Mattison, M.D.. Chief Medical Information Officer, Kaiser Permanente
John began his medical career at the UCSD and Scripps Clinic where he practiced in many clinical settings. He joined the SCAL region of Kaiser-Permanente in 1989 and was appointed as Assistant Medical Director and Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO). John is an active spokesman and proponent for international health data standards and was the founding visionary for the international XML standards for health record exchange resulting in the Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) and the Continuity of Care Document (CCD). John has testified before various federal agencies on Health IT policy including issues related to privacy and security.
Stephen McHale, Co-founder and CEO, Explorys
Stephen served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Everstream, a company he founded in 1999, which Sold to Concurrent in 2005. In 1985, Stephen founded McHale and Associates, Incorporated, a USConnect regional office where he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Stephen was a founding investor and served on the board of directors and as CEO of USConnect, an international systems integrator. Stephen is Managing Director of 23Bell LLC Investments and an active Advisory Board Member to Genesis Inventions. Stephen serves on the board of directors for the Center for Families and Children, the Kent State University Health Informatics Advisory Council and the investment screening committee for the North Coast Angel Fund. He is also an active member of the Entrepreneurs Organization.

Thomas is the West Coast Representative for Cardinal Partners. Prior to joining Cardinal, Thomas was the Co-Founder and Co-Managing Partner of Partech International. Thomas has over 30 years of investment experience with a track record of helping entrepreneurs create significant and successful enterprises. His investments include Ascend Communications (ASND acquired by Lucent Technologies), Automated Healthcare (acquired by McKesson), Medicode (acquired by United Healthcare) and VISICU (EICU acquired by Philips). Ann Miura-Ko, Co-founding Partner, Floodgate
Ann’s investment interests include the innovations in e-commerce, security and big data. Her board seats include Modcloth, Refinery29, Chloe and Isabel, Wanelo, Ayasdi, Xamarin, Rise and Inscopix. She was previously a board member and lead seed investor of TaskRabbit and Lyft. In addition to serving at Floodgate, Ann is a lecturer in the School of Engineering at Stanford University, where she got her PhD focused on mathematical modeling of computer security. Prior to joining Floodgate, Ann worked at Charles River Ventures and McKinsey and Company.
Mikki Nasch, Co-founder and CEO, The Activity Exchange
A 20-year veteran of deal-making in the software, finance and telecom industries, Mikki was VP of Market Management at Fair Isaac below founding AchieveMint. She has held leadership positions in the incubation phase of numerous startups, including Brightspark Group. Mikki was a founding member of BlackWeb Technologies and managed European business development projects at AT&T Business Network, Europe Online and Reuters. She began her career as a network engineer for the U.S. and European governments.
