Swiss businesses are using a bit of U.S. know-how for their videoconferencing needs.
Vidyo, based in Hackensack, NJ, said Thursday that Swisscom drew upon its software for a service for multi-person video calls.
Swisscom, based in Ittigen, Switzerland, is a provider of information and communications technology. The company said it created a service called Vidia that uses Vidyo’s cloud-based platform. Vidia is aimed at small to midsize businesses, though bigger companies can use it as well.
The service can be used, Vidyo said, for multi-person video calls with business and consumer customers, who can see each other in the same computer window. People can join Vidia video conferences through desktop computers, tablets, and smartphones.
Vidyo, a provider of real-time video communications technology, creates APIs used by developers to setup video conferencing services. Its software has been used to connect doctors with patients in remote areas.
