The holiday season is upon us, but there’s been no shortage of news from Wisconsin’s technology and innovation sector. It’s time to catch up on the latest announcements:
—Gener8tor, the startup accelerator that holds programs in Madison and Milwaukee, has raised more than $2.1 million for its second seed capital fund. Investors include Milwaukee-based CSA Partners, backed by Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele; Madison-based Venture Management; and Madison-based Wisconsin Investment Partners (WIP); as well as angel investors, such as Jeff Rusinow. Gener8tor, founded in 2012, has invested in 28 companies that have collectively raised nearly $30 million, the accelerator said.
—Gener8tor portfolio company Men’s Style Lab has raised $1.85 million from investors, including Rusinow, the Des Moines Register reported. Des Moines, IA-based Men’s Style Lab participated in Gener8tor’s three-month program in Madison last winter.
—Monona-based Phoenix Nuclear Labs said it raised $2 million in an equity funding round that will allow it to hire more employees and continue building out its manufacturing infrastructure. The round was led by Venture Management, with participation by WIP, New Capital Fund, Knox LLC, the Chippewa Valley Angel Investors Network, DJW Advisors, and Mendota Venture Capital. Phoenix developed a particle accelerator-based neutron generator that has applications in medical isotope production, munitions inspections, and other uses.
—West Allis-based Solaris was acquired by European medical devices supplier Lohmann & Rauscher for an undisclosed price, according to the Milwaukee Business Journal. Solaris makes compression garments for therapeutic use.
—Data Holdings, a Milwaukee data center owned by the Potawatomi Business Development Corp., announced a partnership with the Milwaukee Institute, a nonprofit provider of high-performance computing services. The pair will now offer clients—from genomic researchers to retailers—a combination of data analytics services provided by Milwaukee Institute and data storage from Data Holdings.
