Talkspace Raises $15M Series B for Texting, Video Therapy Service

Talkspace, an online therapy service that lets users text and video message with real therapists, has raised a $15 million Series B round from Northwest Venture Partners and existing investors Spark Capital, Soft Bank, Metamorphic Ventures, and TheTime, according to a press release.

The New York-based company plans to spend the money on adding more services and users, which Talkspace says has tripled to 300,000 people in the last year. The company has 1,000 registered licensed therapists.

Talkspace touts its service as more affordable and accessible than traditional behavioral therapy, charging a weekly price for the privilege of being able to have text message conversations with a therapist at your (and his or her) convenience. The company also added audio and video messaging services this year on its Web or mobile applications.

Talkspace charges $19 to $25 per week, depending on how long you sign up for. There is also a couples therapy service, which costs $189 per month or $499 for 12 weeks.
