Given all of the recent attacks—and allegations about the nations and groups that may have orchestrated them—Barracuda’s purchase of PhishLine appears to be a bet that encouraging employers to approach the threat of phishing attacks proactively can pay dividends. Emphasizing education and threat identification upfront can ultimately make executives feel that their companies’ workers, computer systems, and bottom lines are better protected, said Mark Chapman, president and CEO of PhishLine.

Barracuda and PhishLine’s “combined strengths offer a comprehensive, data-driven approach to help customers fight smarter, mitigate risks, eliminate threats, and gain greater peace of mind,” Chapman said in a prepared statement.
