Gener8tor said Project North is sponsored by 4490 Ventures, a Madison-based venture capital firm that invests in software startups based in the Midwest.

Gener8tor co-founder Troy Vosseller said in a prepared statement that his organization decided to make information about Project North and its members public because Gener8tor felt the network’s existence “was becoming an open secret.”

—The Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. (WEDC) awarded a $750,000 grant to support a new collaboration to help scientists, researchers, and business leaders develop and commercialize drugs, medical devices, and other products for use in the healthcare and life sciences industries. The collaboration, known as the Forward Bio Initiative, will provide inventors and entrepreneurs with lab space, feedback on product prototypes, and other services, WEDC said.
