Usually, stories about venture funding rounds go straight into the “News Xpress” section of Xconomy. But once in a while there’s a day with so many funding announcements that we decide to round them up in a quick list instead of publishing a bunch of separate items. Today was one of those days.
—San Francisco-based Cloudflare said it has raised $20 million in Series B funding to continue building out its system for enhancing the speed and security of websites. New investor New Enterprise Associates (NEA) led the round, which was joined by existing investors Venrock and Pelion Venture Partners.
—Ignite Game Technologies, a stealth-mode San Francisco startup developing an auto racing game, said it has raised $7.5 million in Series B funding from individual investors Steve Bellotti and Bill Budinger. The company has raised $12.2 million all told, and says it plans to unveil its game this fall.
—Zettaset, formerly known as Goto Metrics, said that it has collected $3 million in a funding round led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson and EPIC Ventures. The Mountain View, CA, startup makes data analytics systems based on the open-source Hadoop distributing computing framework.
—Pivot Medical, a Sunnyvale, CA-based stealth mode startup developing a minimally invasive treatment for hip pain, has raised $2 million in an offering of debt, warrants, and securities, according to a regulatory filing. The round could ultimately reach $5 million, according to the filing.
—Stealth-mode startup Karma Science of San Francisco has raised $2 million in a round of equity-based financing, according to a regulatory filing. According to this online job listing for a user interface designer, Karma Science is funded by Sequoia Capital and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and is building a platform to allow person-to-person gifts of products or services via mobile devices.
