Monday Deals Roundup: 10gen, Mindjet, Ebates

Time for the daily roundup of Bay Area financing and M&A news.

—10gen, the San Francisco- and New York-based provider of consulting, support, and training for users of the MongoDB open source “NoSQL” database, announced today that it has raised $20 million in new funding. New investor Sequoia Capital led the round, which was joined by existing investors Flybridge Capital and Union Square Ventures. “The new capital allows 10gen to expand rapidly in support of the incredible growth of MongoDB,” 10gen CEO Dwight Merriman said in a statement.

—San Francisco-based Mindjet said today that it has acquired Cohuman, a provider of Web-based collaborative task management software, and launched a new cloud-based collaborative work tool called Mindjet Connect. The company said the tool “helps groups visualize their best ideas and plans, securely manage and share files, get teams on the same page and access information anywhere, at any time.”

—Oakland based solar installation finance company Sungevity has raised $5.6 million in a round of equity-based financing that could go as high as $10 million, according to a September 8 regulatory filing. Xconomy published a two-part profile of Sungevity and co-founder Danny Kennedy in September 2010.

—Ebates, the San Francisco-based e-commerce company, said that it has acquired competitors FatWallet and AnyCoupons in a deal funded by August Capital, Canaan Partners, Foundation Capital, and Silicon Valley Bank. The three companies will continue to operate separate websites, but have been combined into a single entity known as Performance Marketing Brands. The terms of the acquisitions were not disclosed.

—Mountain View, CA-based online notekeeping startup Evernote is considering filing for an initial public offering in late 2012 or possibly 2013, CEO Phil Libin told Reuters.

—In other news, DeviceLock, a San Mateo, CA-based maker of device access control software for PCs and other office machines, announced the appointment of a new CEO, former LogLogic sales executive Vincent Schiavo.
