An Evening with Jay Adelson

The Internet has helped make the world smaller as well as less private. Facebook’s recent announcement of frictionless sharing and changes to users’ “personal timelines” has drawn criticism and legal challenges. With the birth of a generation of digital natives and the growing popularity of online social networks, our personal privacy, security, and identity are increasingly tied to the Internet. While it’s hard to resist using social networks to share our lives with friends and relatives, our activities, interests, and family photos can be sold for market research under the guise of making software a more tailored experience.

Jay Adelson, one of Time Magazine’s Top 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2008, former CEO of Digg, current CEO of SimpleGeo, founder of Revision3, and self-proclaimed “start-up addict,” will speak about Internet privacy, identity, and entrepreneurship, and will entertain questions from the audience during this First Friday event at the Mill Valley Public Library.

This event is free and open to the public, but registration is recommended. To register, visit http://www.millvalleylibrary.org or call (415) 389-4292, x203. A wine reception will begin at 6pm.
