The San Diego Chapter of ARCS (Achievement Rewards for College Scientist) is hosting inventor Dean Kamen as the ARCS Foundation 2012 Scientist of the Year. Since the San Diego chapter was founded in 1985, it has issued a total of nearly $7.2 million in college financial awards to 966 graduate and undergraduate scholars attending San Diego State University, The Scripps Research Institute, UC California, San Diego, and the University of San Diego. For the academic year 2011-13, the San Diego Chapter awarded $405,000 to 56 ARCS Foundation Scholars. More information and online registration is here.
