Connect Frontiers of Science & Technology: Glow in the Dark Surgery

Connect has organized a presentation by UC San Diego Associate Professor of Surgery Quyen T. Nguyen on Molecular Imaging for Diagnosis and Surgery. She discusses her research on “color-coded surgery,” designing a fluorescent probe to assist in early cancer diagnosis, accurate identification of surgical margins and accurate identification of nerve structures. In collaboration with UCSD’s Roger Tsien (2008 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry), she is working on the development of Fluorescent Guided Surgery (FGS) with Live Molecular Navigation (LMN), also known as “color-coded surgery.” More information and online registration is here.
