It’s National Robotics Week, that time every year when we focus on U.S. leadership in robotics technology and the impact of robotics on education, R&D, and economic development. If you’re searching for a single event this week where you can find out about the state of robotics inside and outside Silicon Valley, you can stop looking. Just buy a ticket for Xconomy’s Robo Madness event, this afternoon at SRI International in Menlo Park.
After months in the planning stages, we’re excited to be bringing some of the most dynamic and interesting people in the robot business to the stage at SRI. That includes Scott Hassan of Suitable Technologies, one of the leaders in remote presence devices; CyPhy Works CEO Helen Greiner; Brian Gerkey of the Open Source Robotics Foundation; Paolo Pirjanian, chief technology officer at iRobot; and Unbounded Robotics CEO Melonee Wise.
It also includes James Gosling, known as the father of the Java programming language, who’s now at Liquid Robotics, a maker of autonomous underwater vehicles; venture investors from Lux Capital, Felicis Ventures, and Charles River Ventures; special guest moderator John Markoff from the New York Times; and many more.
Online registration is open until 10am PST today. On-site registration opens at noon, the program goes from 1:00 pm to 5:40 pm, and we’ll wrap up with networking reception from 5:40 to 6:30 pm.
