New England software firms had a busy week, it seems, and there were a couple of key biotech deals too. Here’s the rundown:
—Boston-based OpenAir, a provider of Web-based services automation software for business groups, was acquired by Silicon Valley’s NetSuite for $26 million.
—Vertex Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: [[ticker:VRTX]]) sold the rights to its royalty stream on two HIV drugs for $160 million in cash. The Cambridge, MA, firm plans to use the cash to support the development of its hepatitis C drug, telaprevir.
—Online game publisher Turbine Entertainment confirmed that it has raised $40 million in a Series C venture round, as we reported back in April. Time Warner and GGV Capital co-led the deal, which was joined by existing investors Highland Capital Partners, Polaris Venture Partners, Tudor Ventures, and Columbia Capital.
—Burlington, MA-based speech software company Nuance Communications (NASDAQ: [[ticker:NUAN]]) priced nearly 6 million shares of common stock at $18.15 apiece in a secondary public offering slated to close tomorrow.
—Software developer Bradford Networks of Concord, NH, raised $8 million in a Series B round that was led by Updata Partners and joined by Windspeed Ventures, among others.
—GlaxoSmithKline (NYSE: [[ticker:GSK]]) completed its $720 million acquisition of Cambridge, MA’s Sirtris Pharmaceuticals.
