Connect, the San Diego nonprofit supporting technology entrepreneurship, is inducting Qualcomm co-founder Andrew Viterbi into its Entrepreneur Hall of Fame. Viterbi is renowned for the Viterbi algorithm, a means of separating information from background noise. As one of the most important mathematical concepts of the 20th century, the Viterbi algorithm is used in most mobile phones and digital satellite receivers, as well as in magnetic recording, voice recognition, and DNA sequence analysis.
