“Partially funded by Chevron, the fourth DigiFab Conference this year joins the Cambridge Science Festival to explore how digital fabrication technologies including 3D Printing are changing the world. Attendees at the Microsoft NERD Center will hear first hand stories from Cambridge & around the world on fostering startups, workforce development for the next Industrial Revolution, K-12, non-traditional & higher education, medical and biotech innovation, and building communities.
The keynotes on Friday afternoon April 22 will be presented by visionaries who are leading world change. They include:
—Sherry Lassiter, Director, Fab Foundation, will talk about impact being created by the more than 1,000 Fab Labs in the MIT Fab Lab Network.
—Andreas Bastian, Board Member, Enable and 3D Printing Scientist at Autodesk discusses an open source project to 3D Print prosthetics.
—David Ott, Senior Innovation Analyst, International Committee of the Red Cross, will describe the new Humanitarian Lab project bringing Fab Labs to places such as refugee camps.
—Marie Planchard, Director of Education Portfolio, SolidWorks, describes why a software company is bringing a Fab Lab to Rwanda.
Friday evening April 22 from 6 – 9 p.m. will bring the NERD Center to life with demonstrations of 3D Printing, laser cutting, robotics and all manner of making. A reception is included with food and drink. Breakout sessions on Saturday April 23 will explore the changes being seen in education, workforce development, medicine and entrepreneurship.”
