Desktop Metal’s $34 million round and Gemvara’s sale to a business owned by Warren Buffett’s company turned heads this past week. Here are several other Boston-area tech deals that flew somewhat under the radar:
—Verisk Health, the Waltham, MA-based healthcare data services division of Verisk Analytics (NASDAQ: [[ticker:VRSK]]), is being acquired for $820 million by private equity firm Veritas Capital. Veritas has been on a healthcare IT deal spree lately—it sold Truven Health Analytics to IBM Watson Health in February for $2.6 billion.
Verisk Health provides data services and analytics for healthcare payments, population health software, and other systems.
—Boston behavioral marketing technology startup Zaius has raised $8 million from investors, an SEC filing shows.
—CampusSIMs said it raised $2.5 million in a Series A round led by Nauta Capital, with NXT Ventures, Launchpad Venture Group, and Sidecar Angels also contributing. The Boston-based startup provides an app that helps international students obtain and manage mobile phone service while studying in the U.S.
—Video game developer Disruptor Beam raised nearly $2.1 million in a debt funding round, an SEC filing shows. The Framingham, MA-based company makes free mobile and Web-based games like “Star Trek Timelines” and “Game of Thrones Ascent.”
—Neurala raised about $1.2 million in debt funding, according to an SEC filing. The Boston-based company makes deep learning, artificial intelligence, and computer vision software for robots, drones, toys, and smart devices.
—Immunio, a Montreal, Canada-based application security company, closed a $5 million Series A round and hired two executives based in the Boston area. Goran Begic, a former Veracode product manager, was named Immunio vice president of product, and Richard April—previously a top marketing exec at Repsly, CyberArk Software, and others—joined as chief marketing officer.
