TransEnterix Names Duke Doc Pappas to Surgical Officer Post

TransEnterix (NYSE MKT [[ticker:TRXC]]) has appointed Duke University surgeon Theodore Pappas to serve as the company’s senior surgical officer. After TransEnterix failed to secure FDA clearance for its surgical robot earlier this spring, CEO Todd Pope said the Research Triangle Park, NC-based medical device developer would hire a surgeon to help with clinical and regulatory strategy for a second robotic surgical system expected to be filed with regulators this year.

Pappas, a professor in the Duke School of Medicine and a practicing surgeon in the Duke University Health System, will retain his positions at Duke.
