Foursquare, Twitter, Facebook, blogs—transparency is king, and the lines between personal and professional have become fainter and fuzzier. How can you meaningfully engage in any or all of these channels? What makes sense for your business, how do you measure success, and what pitfalls should you avoid? Andy Boyer of Spring Creek Group moderates a lively panel which balances the perspectives of social media gurus as well as newly-arrived enthusiasts who offer their insights on meaningfully embracing social media.

Andy Boyer focuses on helping clients add social media programs into their organizations, developing and planning new strategic campaigns, and advising how to integrate social media into existing marketing programs.Andy’s background includes several years in sports marketing, client engagements for large companies and venture backed startups, and a long career at streaming media pioneer RealNetworks from 1996 to 2002. Andy holds an MBA from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington, focusing on entrepreneurship, venture capital and marketing. He also holds BS degrees in Marketing and Finance from the University of Arizona. He is on the Board of Directors for the Northwest Entrepreneur Network, and on the Advisory Board of the Desmond Mason Foundation.
Bill Harding, Founder, Bonanzle (winner, “Best Bootstrapped Startup,” 2010 Seattle 2.0 awards)
Bill was born with a passion for seeing great ideas become reality. His knack for “getting things done” has driven the creation of numerous of successful businesses, ranging from a self-published magazine to an online laptop store to a casual games development team. Bill founded Bonanzle in January of 2007. He now spends his time as the lead programmer and chief vision keeper of Bonanzle, ensuring that the site continues to develop as the simplest and most user friendly marketplace online. Most recently before Bonanzle, Bill worked as the technical lead on a series of multi-million dollar Nintendo DS titles at Amaze Entertainment (now Griptonite Games). He graduated the University of Washington Computer Software Systems program with a BS.
Brad Nelson, Social Media Community Manager, Starbucks
A 10-year veteran of Starbucks, Brad Nelson started as a barista and has grown to become Starbuck’s Official Tweeter. He started the @starbucks account on Twitter in the summer of 2008 to engage customers and make the Starbucks brand part of their lives in a casual and conversational way. Since then he has used Twitter to launch the Starbucks Gold Card, get the word out on Election Day free coffee and national free pastry day, as well as to maintain an ongoing conversation with customers. In September Brad successfully used Twitter, YouTube and other digital media to promote VIA instant coffee nationwide.
