Norway’s Statkraft, Europe’s largest renewable energy company, has organized a two-day conference in San Diego that covers use of the osmotic effect in desalination and power production. The summit is part of the American Membrane Technology Association’s annual meeting. Recent university and industry research efforts aim to improve membrane properties and make it possible to commercialize forward osmosis and pressure-retarded osmosis technologies.
