Verso Paper, a paper products company based in Memphis, TN, is building a $43 million renewable energy biomass plant in the Upper Peninsula Michigan town of Quinnesec, the company has announced (PDF). The plant is made possible through tax breaks awarded by the state declaring the area a Forest Products Processing Renaissance Zone. The plant is expected to go online by December 2011.
