Ken Zolot is an accomplished entrepreneur who has helped direct the early business planning and commercialization of over a dozen MIT spinouts. As a Senior Lecturer at MIT, and founder and director of the school's renowned Innovation Teams program, Zolot has broad expertise in transforming technological innovations into technology-driven businesses. He was named a Senior Fellow at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, where he advises the Foundation on its new initiative “Kauffman Labs for Enterprise Creation.” Zolot has started many companies, most recently Heartland Robotics, along with iRobot co-founder (and fellow Xconomist) Rod Brooks. Previously, Ken co-founded Egenera, Inc., with Vern Brownell, Goldman Sachs' Chief Technology Officer. Egenera went on to be named to Red Herring's list of "100 companies most likely to change the world." Prior to Egenera, Ken started Geer Zolot Associates, a spinoff from MIT Project Athena. Geer Zolot developed network security software for electronic trading and commerce, and designed the Internet security architecture for much of the financial services industry. After the sale of Geer Zolot Associates, Ken was retained by Goldman Sachs to guide its technology strategy. Zolot has also held positions at MIT Project Athena, and the MIT Media Lab. Ken serves on the global board of the MIT Enterprise Forum, and as a member of the Common Angels investment group. Mr. Zolot holds a Master of Science degree from MIT in Management of Technology. His undergraduate work was at Syracuse University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy.
