Matt Younkle is the co-founder and CEO of Murfie, a dynamic marketplace of new and pre-loved music that provides music lovers with the ability to truly own the music they stream, download, buy and trade. Launched publicly in August 2011 and currently home to thousands of music collections, Murfie provides its members with unparalleled access to and control of their music in physical and digital formats.
Prior to founding Murfie, Younkle was the Founder and President of Laminar Technologies, LLC where he developed, manufactured and marketed the TurboTap, a device capable of pouring draft beer three times faster than conventional technologies and with less waste. Younkle led the growth of the organization from idea, to proof-of-concept, to multimillion dollars in revenue.
An experienced entrepreneur, Younkle has been involved with several other start-ups throughout his career, including Vosaic, LLC, one of the first companies in the world to stream live video and audio over the Internet. His product development work has spanned a wide range of industries from space research – he developed control and robotic systems that were utilized aboard the first mission to ever grow food in space – to draft beer, to online music. He and his projects have been featured in USA Today, Popular Science, The Wall Street Journal, TIME Magazine, CNN, CNBC, FOX News, Chicago Sun Times and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Younkle earned degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He is an active supporter of the Wisconsin start-up community, a graduate of the TechStars accelerator program, and a recipient of the UW-Madison Entrepreneurial Achievement Award.
