Shava Nerad learned to program FORTRAN in 1964, and has been called the world's oldest digital native. She has been part of the MIT community since she arrived on the eve of the blizzard of 1978. In 1982, she was chief software engineer on the first commercial multimedia authoring system in the world -- DEC's IVIS -- and discovered the Internet. She's been working at the intersection of technology, society and Internet ever since. She started Oddfellow Studios, Inc. (http://oddfellowstudios.com) in 2008, where she and her artist and magician fiance, Fish Fishman, have prototyped a virtual world dance game that produces relaxation and euphoria similar to wakeful deep meditation through a novel visual stimulation technique.
